He is an Energy consultant and has worked

extensively in Nigeria and overseas. He is a chartered Engineer. He obtained his first degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of LFE now Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). He has worked in various capacities as Director of project design, construction and supervision of electrical and electronics engineering and building services in Nigeria, United kingdom and the Middle East in the specialist fields of power generation, transmission and distribution of electrical Energy to various institutions both at home and overseas.

Dr Fawehinmi has designed and executed several multi disciplinary projects in various institutions including maintanance, finance, project management. He has commissioned various projects in Nigeria such as NNPC projects in both on- shore and offshore, pipeline maintanance, design, writing specification and tender report and commissioning of building projects such as Nicon house, Nigeria Stock Exchange, Maiduguri secretariat which is one of the largest secretariats in Nigeria, Olympia hotel Portharcourt, Post and Telecommunication in Lagos also known as P and T Lafiaji.

Dr Fawehinmi has been involved extensively in Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific and America in crude oil sales and marketing, petroleum products as well as well as oil and gas projects in three principal divisions in Upstream, Downstream and drilling products and services. He has worked extensively with strategic partners to expand and upgrade a number of existing refinery and construction of bulk petroleum storage depots or tanks in Nigeria, Middle East and Angola. He also specialises in investments in grid connected renewable energy systems (Solar PV, Wind or a combination of wind and solar PV systems) equipped with reversible metering systems and monitoring systems.

He went to the UK in 1978 for post graduate training and obtained a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering at Strathclyde university in Glasgow in 1980 and later proceeded to Herriot Watts University for his Doctorate in energy. Dr Fawehinmi has worked with various institutions for the design of several projects in the oil and gas industries for several multi nationals and governments such as shell, BP Exploration, production and commissioning, Chevron, government of Brunel Daressalem, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, NNPC Nigeria, Angola oil and gas company etc.
Dr Fawehinmi’s passion for charitable causes has given him the opportunities to register and get involved in a number of charitable organisations and also help to set up the Miss Commonwealth pageant organisation in 2000 to help promote quality of life improvement programme of Her Majesty’s commonwealth of nations, promoting cultural awareness and exchange, philanthropy, international volunteering, green issues, education, social inclusion etc. The world’s first ever Misscommonwealth international contest was officially and formally launched in London with contestants from commonwealth countries. It has since been repeatedly conducted yearly with participation from 54 Commonwealth member states and friends of commonwealth countries for the rest of the world.

Dr Fawehinmi joined the Empower Africa Initiative team as head of production in the UK for the Empower Africa Initiative – Princess Halliday Talk Show, heading up our London offices in the UK and Europe. The show is broadcast in 48 countries worldwide and also in sky TV.
